Father hacked to death over son’s alleged theft in Thakurgaon’s Ranisankail; five suspects arrested

In Nekmord Kuwavita village of Ranisankail Upazila, Thakurgaon, Kartik Chandra Roy (35) was hacked to death over allegations that his son had stolen. The incident occurred on Tuesday night (September 8).

The victim’s son, Kakil Chandra, filed a murder case (No. 12) regarding the incident. Police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested Hari Kishore, Tapan Chandra, Dalim Chandra, Nabdev, and Ratan Chandra. The locally made sharp weapon used in the murder was recovered.

Locals alleged that Huda and his associates from the same village had been harassing Kakil Chandra and Kartik Chandra for a long time on various pretexts. On Tuesday night, the murder was reportedly carried out deliberately under the accusation of stealing a shallow machine. Additional police have been deployed in the area to maintain order.

Ranisankail Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Muha. Arshedul Haque, stated that five suspects involved in the incident have been arrested, and operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
