Elderly man dies after falling under train in Chuadanga

Ramjan Ali (70) tragically died after falling under a train in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila. The accident occurred on Thursday (April 2) at around 10:30 am in front of the Mominpur cemetery in the upazila.

The deceased, Ramjan Ali, was a resident of Betbaria village in Alamdanga Upazila and the son of the late Murad Ali. According to local sources, he served as an imam at a local mosque.

Eyewitnesses and local sources reported that while the intercity Sagar Dari Express train, coming from Rajshahi and headed to Khulna, was passing the site, Ramjan Ali accidentally fell onto the railway track, resulting in him being hit by the train and dying at the scene.

Sub-Inspector Jagdish Chandra Basu of the Chuadanga Railway Police said that, according to the family, Ramjan Ali was walking along the railway line to reach farmland for agricultural purposes when the accident occurred. Following the incident, the police prepared an official report, and upon the family’s request, the body was handed over to them without an autopsy.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local area. Residents have urged greater caution while moving along railway lines.
