This morning, Thursday, they first visited the graves of the July uprising martyrs at Rayerbazar in Dhaka. Afterwards, they paid tribute with prayers at the National Martyrs’ Memorial. Among those present were the newly elected Vice President Abu Sadik Kayem, General Secretary S.M. Farhad, Assistant General Secretary Muha. Mohiuddin Khan, and other panel leaders.
After the prayers, Abu Sadik Kayem said that the martyrs are a beacon of inspiration. The new DUCSU leadership will work to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh in fulfillment of the martyrs’ dreams. He added, “The July revolution started here, and from here, we are beginning a new journey.”
Newly elected GS S.M. Farhad stated that their post-victory activities began with paying tribute at the martyrs’ graves. “To repay the debt of the martyrs’ sacrifices, we must fulfill the promises made to students,” he added.
It is noteworthy that in the DUCSU elections held last Tuesday, the Shibir-supported candidates from the United Student Alliance panel achieved a sweeping victory. They won 23 out of 28 positions, including Vice President, General Secretary, and Assistant General Secretary.
