DU DUCSU and Hall Parliament Election: Three-tier Security Arrangements

Strict security measures have been implemented for the upcoming DU DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections at the University of Dhaka. The university authorities have announced that a three-tier security cordon will be in place around the eight polling centers on election day.

The first tier will be managed by BNCC members and the Proctorial team. The second tier of security will be handled by the police force. At the seven entrances of the campus, the army will be stationed as a “striking force.” If necessary, army personnel may enter the campus and provide security at the polling centers throughout the voting process until the results are announced.

This decision was announced on Tuesday morning at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building following a discussion with the candidates, presided over by the Chief Returning Officer, Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin. Vice President, General Secretary, and Assistant General Secretary candidates, along with other returning officers, attended the meeting.

According to the university administration, no outsiders will be allowed to enter the residential halls seven days before the elections. Female students’ halls will remain completely restricted to outsiders at all times. Additionally, regular patrols will be conducted to enhance security.

On the day before the election (September 8) and on election day (September 9), the Dhaka University Metro Rail Station will remain closed. Only legitimate students, approved journalists, and election-related personnel will be allowed on campus, while general entry will be completely prohibited.

To ensure that students outside the campus can participate in voting, additional bus services will be provided. The police will assist in the overall operation of these buses.

The university administration stated that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
