Cumilla University Student Targeted in Attempted Rape and Robbery on Bus; Two Suspects Arrested

A female student from the Anthropology Department of Cumilla University (CU) became a victim of attempted rape and robbery on a Dhaka-bound Saint Martin transport bus. The incident occurred on Friday (August 22) at around 9:30 a.m.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of five individuals on the bus initially intimidated the student and then tried to physically assault her. During the attack, they also snatched some of her valuables.

Following the incident, angry students quickly apprehended two of the suspects and handed them over to the police. During this time, students blocked the police vehicle carrying the suspects to express their protest.

The police stated that efforts are ongoing to identify the other individuals involved, and the two arrested suspects have been taken to the police station for preliminary questioning.

The incident has sparked outrage among the university students, who are demanding that the perpetrators be brought to justice promptly and face exemplary punishment.
