Controversy Between Samiya Aothi and Tanzin Tisha on Shooting Set Over Slapping Incident

On a drama shooting set in Manikganj, an incident of slapping has sparked a controversy between actresses Samiya Aothi and Tanzin Tisha, generating widespread discussion on social media.

On Tuesday at around 4:30 PM, Samiya Aothi went live on Facebook and alleged that during the shooting of the drama Putuler Biye, Tanzin Tisha slapped her multiple times. She claimed that according to the script, she was supposed to lightly slap Tisha, but Tisha retaliated multiple times, causing swelling on Aothi’s cheek and eye.

The incident occurred in a village in Ghiur Upazila, Manikganj. Shooting had been ongoing since morning. The situation arose during the joint scene in the afternoon.

Director Rafat Majumdar stated that in the preliminary script, Aothi was to slap Tisha, but this was removed in the final rehearsal. According to him, the scene was primarily intended to involve dialogue reactions and acting pushes. During shooting, Aothi slapped, which changed the dynamics, and Tisha responded with slaps.

However, Samiya Aothi claims that the slapping was not removed and that there were no instructions in the script for Tisha to slap her. She also mentioned that there was no separate rehearsal between them for the scene.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said that after Aothi slapped, Tisha hit her several times.

Tanzin Tisha claims she acted according to her character, stating that she performed within the limits of the role, without going beyond it.

Following the incident, Samiya Aothi left the shooting set, citing safety concerns, and did not return. The director attempted to resolve the matter on set but could not reach a solution.

The Bangladesh Actors’ Association issued a statement urging members to resolve internal disputes organizationally rather than on social media and to report issues to the organization as per the code of conduct.

Samiya Aothi stated that she will submit a written complaint against Tanzin Tisha.

The ultimate explanation and resolution of this unwanted incident on the shooting set now depends on the decision of the relevant organization.
