Constable Ami Dash has been granted a three-day remand by the court over allegations of leaking a confidential statement given by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz during a walkie-talkie communication.

On Tuesday afternoon, Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate S.M. Alauddin approved the remand following a hearing. The matter was confirmed by the court’s Assistant Public Prosecutor, Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury.

The investigation officer in the case stated that Ami Dash was initially sought to be remanded for seven days under the Official Secrets Act, 1923. After the hearing, the court approved a three-day remand.

According to the application, on the night of August 12 at around 8 PM, while on duty at Khulshi Police Station, Ami Dash used a radio device in his possession to video record the strategic statement of the CMP Commissioner. He later shared the video on social media, allegedly attempting to assist a banned terrorist organization. The incident damaged the police’s reputation and led to the leakage of important strategic information.

The police have stated that Ami Dash will remain in remand until the investigation is complete, and efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the incident.
