Staff Report: PNN
All government and private banks in the country will remain open next Saturday ahead of the long Eid-ul-Azha holiday. As a result, customers will be able to carry out normal banking services and transactions even on the weekly holiday.
According to Bangladesh Bank sources, banks will operate normally on Saturday and Sunday. After that, a long Eid holiday will begin from Monday. Therefore, these two days are considered very important for completing necessary financial transactions before Eid.
According to the holiday schedule, all scheduled banks in the country will remain closed from May 25 to May 31. During the same period, government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices will also remain closed.
However, to ensure payment of salaries and bonuses for workers in the garment industry and to keep import-export activities running ahead of Eid, some designated bank branches will remain open. Commercial bank branches in industrial areas will operate for limited hours on May 25 and May 26.
It has been learned that on those two days, the concerned bank branches will remain open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. However, customer transaction hours will be until 1:00 PM.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Administration has already issued a notification declaring a seven-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha. According to government decision, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on May 28 this year.
