Bangladesh women’s cricket team does not have a very good record in the Women’s T20 World Cup. In the previous six editions, they played 25 matches and won only three. The rest of the matches ended in defeat. However, the team is now entering the World Cup mission aiming to create new history.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty believes past failures are not pressure but an opportunity to change their story. At a press conference in Mirpur on Sunday, she said that although the team has long been in a winless streak, she does not consider it a burden. Instead, she sees it as a challenge to rewrite history.

Before the World Cup, Bangladesh women’s team will play a tri-nation series in Scotland to prepare. Along with hosts Scotland, the Netherlands will also participate. The team is leaving the country in two phases for this tour.

Batting has always been a major problem in Bangladesh women’s cricket. While the bowlers have consistently performed well, batting failures have cost many matches. In past World Cups, Bangladesh only defeated Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Scotland. This time, the team wants to overcome those limitations.

Joty said that recent series have been used to work on weaknesses. Although results were not favorable, they found positive aspects in their performance. She is especially confident about the bowling unit. She believes in-form players will continue their performance in the World Cup.

This time, Bangladesh aims to win at least three matches. They are particularly hopeful against Scotland and the Netherlands. They also hope for a good result against strong India, as Bangladesh has previously defeated them.

Bangladesh women’s team will begin their World Cup campaign on June 14 against the Netherlands. The goal this time is not just participation but proving themselves again.
