Bangladesh-Pakistan T20 Match Dedicated to Victims of Uttara Plane Crash; BCB to Observe Mourning Activities

Dhaka’s Uttara area was struck by tragedy when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College, resulting in the deaths of 27 people and injuring many others. The heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow of mourning across the country.

In tribute to the victims and those injured in this devastating accident, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that the second T20 international match between Bangladesh and Pakistan, scheduled to be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, July 22, will be dedicated to their memory.

In an official statement, BCB said, “The match tomorrow is dedicated to those who lost their lives or were injured in the Milestone plane crash. The Tigers stand with the nation in this time of sorrow.”

Several mourning activities will be held during the match, including:

  • A one-minute silence before the start of the match.

  • Players, coaching staff, and match officials from both teams will wear black armbands.

  • No music or entertainment will be played in the stadium during the match.

  • National flags at all BCB venues across the country will be flown at half-mast in observance of the state mourning day.

Additionally, BCB has updated its official Facebook profile picture with a black badge logo symbolizing mourning.

The board further stated, “Two teams. One silence. One nation weeping.”

The tragic crash has deeply affected not only the cricketing community but the entire nation, with social media flooded with messages of condolences and prayers for the victims.
