Bangladesh’s dream of staying in the game was shattered in the final moments as they lost 4-3 to Hong Kong in a thrilling seven-goal match. Despite the defeat, coach Javier Cabrera took full responsibility and did not blame the players.

At a post-match press conference, Cabrera said, “I take all the responsibility, the whole team takes it, but the main responsibility is mine.” He explained that the team performed well in the first half, but conceding a goal at the very end was extremely painful.

Cabrera cited the preference for experienced players and team coordination as reasons for not including Shomit Som, Zayan Ahmed, and Fahamidul in the starting eleven. He did not blame the defense for the last-minute goal, stating that the physical strength and aggressive play of Hong Kong’s forwards were the main difference. Despite the loss, Cabrera believes that the standard of Bangladesh football is almost on par with Hong Kong.
