In the Asian Cup qualifying round, Bangladesh’s national football team is set to face Hong Kong in their second home match. After losing 2-1 to Singapore in their opening match, players including Hamza Chowdhury and Shomit Som, along with other overseas-based footballers, are focused on securing a win.
Bangladesh’s head coach Javier Cabrera said, “Despite some injury concerns in the squad, preparations have been good. Hamza and Shomit have been training with the team. We hope to secure three points in this match.”
Following the defeat to Singapore, a victory in this match is crucial for Bangladesh. With forwards Suman Reza and Mohammad Ibrahim sidelined due to injury, their chances of making the starting XI are slim. However, players like Mehedi, Hamza, Shomit, Fahmidul Islam, Zayan Ahmed, Jamal Bhuiyan, and Tariq Kazi are expected to strengthen the team.
Hong Kong, boosted by overseas-based players including Mahama Awal, Fernando Augusto, and Everton Camargo, will also pose a strong challenge. Securing full points from Dhaka would put Bangladesh in a favorable position in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
The match will kick off at 8 PM, and the contest between the two teams will not only be on the field but also in the performances of the overseas-based players.
