Bangladesh Bank employees to receive incentive worth six times their basic salary

Employees of Bangladesh Bank will receive an incentive this time equivalent to six times their basic salary. The approval was given at the 443rd board meeting of the central bank on Tuesday (27 August).

The financial statements for the fiscal year 2024-25 were also approved during the meeting. Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the matter to bdnews24.com.

According to the financial statements, the central bank’s net profit for 2024-25 increased by 47.71 percent, reaching BDT 22,600 crore. The meeting was chaired by Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur.

A deputy governor at the meeting stated, “The net profit is BDT 22,600 crore. This year’s total revenue is BDT 33,000 crore, with the major portion coming from interest.”

In comparison, in the previous fiscal year, the net profit was BDT 15,300 crore and the total revenue was BDT 40,000 crore.

Top officials of Bangladesh Bank have stated, “After the auditor’s and governor’s signatures are completed on the financial statements on Wednesday, the remaining funds will be deposited into the government’s accounts.”

This development by the central bank is being seen as a significant incentive for employees, directly linked to the bank’s earned profits.
