Actress Parno Mitra Joins Trinamool Congress after Leaving BJP

In West Bengal, India, popular actress Parno Mitra, who previously contested assembly elections as a BJP candidate, is joining the ruling Trinamool Congress. She was seen heading to the Trinamool Bhavan on Friday morning, and will formally join the party in a ceremony led by West Bengal government minister Chandrima Bhattacharya at noon.

Parno joined BJP in 2019 and contested the 2021 assembly election from Barahanagar constituency but lost to Trinamool Congress candidate Tapas Roy. Apart from politics, she is known in acting for works like Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona, Bedroom, Machh Mishti & More, Rajkahini, Apur Panchali, and Alinagarer Golokdhadha. Analysts suggest her move will add a new dimension to West Bengal politics ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
