Mojibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), has alleged that BNP’s statements and activities regarding the implementation of the July Charter are inconsistent.
He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon during a protest rally held in Paltan, Dhaka. The rally was organized to protest the delay in implementing the July Charter, which is seen as an achievement of the student and public movements, and to oppose efforts to annul the Referendum Ordinance.
At the rally, Manju said that if the July Charter is implemented, the recent movements’ success will be partially reflected; otherwise, the achievement will be questioned. He accused that the uncertainty and controversy surrounding the referendum and the July Charter are disappointing.
He also stated that in the country’s political history, mass movements are the main driving force for change. Therefore, if there is procrastination in implementing the July Charter, there will be no alternative but to take to the streets.
Ohab Minar, Senior Vice Chairman of the party, said that any delay or stalling in implementing the July Charter will not be tolerated. He called on BNP and other relevant political parties to take a clear position on this matter.
Various party leaders and activists attended the rally, including Deputy General Secretary Altaf Hossain, Zobayer Ahmed Bhuiya, Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, ABM Khalid Hasan, and others. A protest march was held after the rally, which circled various streets of Paltan and concluded in front of the party’s central office.
