7-Month-Old Baby Slain in Taraganj, Rangpur; Mother Arrested

In a horrific incident in West Palashbari village, Kursha Union, Taraganj Upazila, Rangpur, a 7-month-old baby girl was allegedly killed by her mother. The child’s body was later thrown outside the house.

The incident occurred on Monday (September 15) around 6:00 AM. The accused, Tulsi Rani (25), is the wife of Babul Chandra Roy. Locals reported that Tulsi is mentally unstable.

According to preliminary information, the couple married about seven years ago. Seven months ago, Tulsi Rani allegedly killed her infant daughter at home using a knife and disposed of the body outside.

Police from Taraganj Thana quickly arrived at the scene, recovered the child’s body, and arrested Tulsi Rani, taking her to the police station. OC M. A. Faruk stated that it is initially believed that the mother committed the act in a mentally unstable state, but other possible motives are being investigated. The child’s body has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
