Young Man Seriously Injured After Helping Arrest Drug Dealer in Chauddagram, Comilla

In Chauddagram, Comilla, a young man was seriously injured after assisting local youths in arresting a drug dealer named Jafar, who was caught with cannabis. Angry drug traffickers attacked the young man, Abdul Rahman Faisal.

Faisal is the son of Din Mohammad from Dimatoli village in Chioda Union. The incident was confirmed by Chauddagram Police Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Hilal Uddin Ahmed on Monday.

It is reported that Abdul Momin, Jafar Driver, and Zisan have been supplying drugs in the area for a long time. On Friday night, local youths apprehended Jafar in front of Dimatoli Mosque and handed him over to the police. The seized cannabis belonged to drug dealer Abdul Momin.

In retaliation for Jafar’s arrest, the next day, Saturday, the drug traffickers attacked Faisal with homemade weapons. Locals rescued him and admitted him to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.

Following the attack, the traffickers reportedly threatened Faisal and his family with further harm. Locals stated that Jafar Driver had recently been arrested in Chattogram with a large amount of drugs, and after being released on bail, he resumed drug trafficking.

Residents have called on the army, RAB, police, and higher government authorities to swiftly arrest those involved.

OC Mohammad Hilal Uddin Ahmed said, “Faisal’s father, Din Mohammad, has filed a written complaint. Necessary action will be taken after investigation. Police operations against drug traffickers are ongoing.”
