Three Detective Police Injured While Trying to Arrest Theft Case Suspect in Bogura

In Bogura, three members of the detective police were injured in an armed attack while attempting to arrest a suspect in a theft case. The incident occurred on Thursday (14 August) around 10:00 PM in the Haddipotti area of the city.

OC of the District Detective Police, Iqbal Bahar, said that the police conducted an operation in the Chakshutrapur Haddipotti area to apprehend Roni (30), a suspect in a theft case under Shajahanpur Police Station. The operation team was led by SI Swapon Mia, accompanied by SI Fazlul Haque, ASI Hasan Ali, ASI Golam Kibria, and several constables.

After Roni was arrested, he began shouting loudly. Subsequently, 70–80 people, led by absconding suspect Shapla Khatun and her husband Ashiq, attacked the police with sticks, rods, and sharp weapons. ASI Hasan Ali, Constable Modaser Hossain, and Constable Sajib Hossain were injured in the attack.

According to the police, Shapla Khatun tried to strike ASI Hasan with a machete. When Constable Modaser attempted to intervene, he was seriously injured, with a cut below his elbow. Constable Sajib was hit on the back with an iron rod.

Upon receiving news of the incident, additional police personnel arrived at the scene and, with the help of locals, arrested three individuals. The suspects Roni, Shamim (60), Israfil Hossain (40), Kabir Hossain (24), Behula (35), and Rubi Begum were taken into custody.

OC Iqbal Bahar stated, “A life-threatening attack was carried out on our members. With the assistance of locals, several suspects have been arrested, and operations are ongoing to apprehend the others.”
