Singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel granted bail on compromise terms

Singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel, arrested on charges of embezzling money by promising marriage and threatening to release private photos and videos, has been granted bail on compromise terms. After appearing in court on Tuesday, the judge approved his bail. Following his release, he performed a song at the court premises upon request from journalists.

At the court premises, Nobel said, “Everyone makes mistakes. I have also made a mistake.” Addressing the audience, he apologized and asked not to be misunderstood. Later, he performed a portion of his popular song ‘Meherban’.

According to case documents, on 13 August last year, a woman filed a case against Nobel in the CMM Court of Dhaka. The allegations stated that he received money by promising marriage and attempted to breach personal privacy. The court entrusted the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case.

After submission of the investigation report, on 2 February this year, the court issued arrest warrants against Nobel and four others. Other accused include his wife Israt Jahan (Priya), his mother Nazma Hossain, and associate Munem Shah Saumik.

On Monday, law enforcement arrested Nobel from Siddhirganj area in Narayanganj. After appearing in court on Tuesday, he obtained bail through mutual compromise.
