For the month of February, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced another increase in the consumer price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas. According to the new decision, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder has been increased by 50 taka, now set at 1,356 taka.

BERC made this price adjustment announcement on Monday (February 2). The authority stated that the new price would take effect from 6 PM on Monday.

BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed said that the new prices for February have been set in accordance with international market rates. In January, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder was 1,306 taka, which has now been increased to 1,356 taka. Previously, the last LPG price adjustment was made on January 4.

Along with LPG, the price of autogas has also been increased. According to the new decision, for February, the consumer price of autogas has been increased by 2.34 taka per liter, with tax included (VAT), now fixed at 62.14 taka per liter.

It should be noted that at the beginning of January, the price of autogas had also been adjusted. At that time, the price was increased by 2.48 taka per liter, with tax included, to 59.80 taka.

Industry observers believe that with this continuous price rise, the expenses of LPG and autogas users will increase further, especially for those who rely on these fuels for cooking and transportation.
