In Gozaria Upazila of Munshiganj, a brutal attack occurred on a freedom fighter over a long-standing land dispute. Police have already arrested one person in connection with the incident, and operations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects.
According to police and local sources, the incident took place around 12:30 PM on Tuesday in front of an establishment beside the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. The injured freedom fighter, Ahiduzzaman Naiem, is a resident of the area. After being seriously injured, he was first taken to the local health complex and later transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment due to deteriorating condition.
Eyewitnesses stated that the attack occurred following a village mediation (salish) meeting over the land dispute. After leaving the meeting alone, Naiem was suddenly attacked by a group of assailants. The attackers used iron rods and sharp weapons, severely injuring him. His arms and legs were broken, and multiple parts of his body sustained serious injuries.
Doctors reported that there were multiple signs of trauma on the injured freedom fighter’s body, and his condition was critical.
Relatives of the victim filed a case at Gozaria Police Station, naming multiple individuals as defendants, while several others remain unidentified. The Officer-in-Charge of Gozaria Police Station stated that one accused has already been arrested, and multiple police teams are working to apprehend the others.
Locals reported that the attack was due to a prior land dispute. The accused parties have not yet issued any statement regarding the incident. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the actual cause of the incident and bring the culprits under the law.
