The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen under Israel’s ongoing blockade, with acute shortages of food, fuel, and medical supplies. According to local hospital sources cited by Al Jazeera Arabic, a child and a 40-day-old infant have died from severe malnutrition amid the deteriorating conditions.
In addition to the blockade, Israeli forces launched widespread attacks across Gaza early Tuesday morning, killing at least 35 Palestinians. Among the dead are eight civilians who were reportedly seeking humanitarian aid.
Israeli tanks have also entered the southern and eastern outskirts of Deir al-Balah for the first time, just a day before the latest killings occurred.
At Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital, fuel shortages have completely shut down the dialysis department, putting many patients’ lives in grave danger. The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported that Israeli forces struck a WHO staff housing site in Deir al-Balah three times on Monday.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) stated that since March, the amount of food and aid allowed into Gaza by Israel has been “grossly insufficient.” As a result, more than one million children are going hungry every day.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military confirmed that one of its reserve soldiers was killed during the ongoing offensive in Gaza.
The relentless assault and total blockade have pushed Gaza to the brink of a catastrophic humanitarian collapse. The deaths of children and civilians have sparked global outrage, with growing calls from the international community to lift the siege and ensure urgent humanitarian access.
