Slow Ventures’ $60 million Creator Fund has made its first investment in Jonathan Katz-Moses, a popular carpenter with nearly 600,000 YouTube followers and over 75 million video views. He also runs his own line of carpentry tools.

Billy Parks, lead investor and partner at Slow Ventures, said that over the past decade, the role of creators has changed significantly. They are no longer just chasing media or brand dollars but are interested in building their own brands and businesses that are sustainable and lasting.

Jonathan Katz-Moses has expanded his business by teaching professional carpentry and selling his own tools. He manages his operations, business, and YouTube content creation with a skilled team. This investment from Slow Ventures will strengthen his business and content creation efforts.

After surviving a brutal attack in 2010 that left him severely injured, Jonathan focused on carpentry. He decided to follow his dreams with gratitude for life, bought a camera, started uploading woodworking videos to YouTube, and gradually built a loyal following.

Since the investment, he has begun working on new product development, patent applications, and creating more educational videos. His primary focus will remain on YouTube, with plans to expand to other platforms as well.

Billy Parks said Slow Ventures wants to work with creators who have expertise in a particular field and have built strong connections with their communities. Such creators can build sustainable businesses, making it essential to support them.

This initiative by Slow Ventures demonstrates a new frontier in investing in the creator economy, where content creators are not just media personalities but also successful entrepreneurs.
