GPT-5 Faces Criticism on Reddit Discussion, GPT-4o May Return

On Friday, during an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and members of the GPT-5 team were flooded with questions about the new model. Many users demanded the return of the previous model, GPT-4o.

A new feature of GPT-5 is the real-time router, which decides whether to respond quickly or take more time based on the prompt. However, users complained that it is not working properly, making GPT-5 seem "less intelligent" compared to before. Altman explained that the performance dip was due to router issues on Thursday but said the situation improved from Friday.

He promised that rate limits for Plus users will be doubled, and they might be able to continue using GPT-4o. Data analysis on this matter is ongoing.

During the presentation, there was some humor about a “chart crime,” where a small score was mistakenly shown as a huge bar. Although the official blog published the correct chart, the live presentation’s error sparked widespread online mockery.

Altman concluded the AMA by saying, “We will continue working to bring stability and keep listening to user feedback.”
