In Baraigram, Natore, the body of a missing farmer, Adam Ali, 55, was recovered about 20 hours after he went missing. A special diving team from Rajshahi arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning (26 August) and retrieved the body after an hour-long operation.
The deceased, Adam Ali, was the son of the late Nur Mohammad Panchar from Bhabanipur Uttarpara village in Baraigram Upazila.
According to his relative, Mahidul Alam, Adam Ali had partially lost mobility in his left leg and hand due to a stroke nearly two years ago. On Monday morning, he went out to meet the laborers working in the paddy field. When he failed to arrive at the field and did not return home for a long time, his family began searching for him.
Later, a walking stick belonging to him was spotted floating in a nearby pond. Two teams from Bonpara and Dayarampur Fire Services conducted search operations until evening but found nothing.
On Tuesday morning, a special diving team from Rajshahi Fire Service recovered his body from the pond after an hour-long effort.
Ali Akbar, chairman of Jowari Union Parishad, said that the family suspects Adam Ali slipped near the pond while on his way to the field and drowned.
