Ed Sheeran Takes 11-Hour Train to Melbourne

Grammy-winning British musician Ed Sheeran is on his Australia tour as part of his 2026 ‘Loop Tour.’ A notable event in his trip has already caught fans’ attention—he chose a long 11-hour train ride from Sydney to Melbourne instead of flying.

He departed Sydney Thursday morning and arrived at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station on the overnight train. In a video circulated on social media, he appears in casual clothing, wearing a cap and green hoodie to cover his face, walking through the station like any ordinary passenger. He carried a black bag and a trolley.

The purpose of the journey was to attend the first of three concerts at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. Despite his immense wealth, he chose a relatively low-cost train ticket, sparking curiosity among fans.

In an interview, Sheeran said he prefers public transportation whenever possible to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmentally friendly living. He also values connecting with ordinary people.

Special guests Vance Joy, Mia Rae, and Aaron Rowe will join him on stage during the Melbourne shows. Before Melbourne, he performed in Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane. Following the Melbourne concerts, the tour will conclude in Adelaide on March 5. His environmentally conscious and modest lifestyle choice has generated positive discussion among fans.
