Interim government’s economic advisor, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, has stated that the national election is scheduled to take place in February. Before that, necessary reforms must be implemented swiftly to advance the country as much as possible.
He made these remarks on Wednesday while inaugurating a tree plantation program at the Krishi Bank Staff College in Mirpur. Highlighting the issues of corruption and money laundering in the banking sector, he said, “The way money has been laundered from Bangladesh and the level of looting in the banking sector – such things have not happened anywhere else in the world.”
Dr. Salehuddin further noted, “Compared to the deteriorating conditions of other banks, Krishi Bank is in relatively good shape. The bank has played the most significant role behind the country’s agricultural revolution.”
Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance, was present as the special guest. Also in attendance were Krishi Bank Managing Director Sanchia Binte Ali, Chairman Zahid Hossain, Deputy Managing Directors Md. A. Rahim and Md. Khaleda Zumman, along with other senior officials.
Through the tree plantation program, the guests expressed their commitment to protecting the environment and contributing to greenery, while also working toward economic stability and development.
