In Islam Complex, Burichang Sadar, Comilla, a gang of fraudsters used scopolamine on a female customer, Mosa Samsun Nahar (45), stealing 174,000 BDT from her. The incident occurred on Wednesday (September 10) around 11 a.m. at the Sonali Bank branch.

The victim, wife of Abdul Malek from Gosaipur village, Pirjatra Pur Union, went to the bank to withdraw money via check for installments sent by her son abroad and her two brothers. While counting the cash at the counter, a gang of 4–5 fraudsters approached her and secretly sprayed scopolamine on her nose and mouth.

She became completely unconscious, and the gang quickly fled with her money. After regaining consciousness shortly afterward, she realized the money was gone.

On Thursday (September 11) afternoon, she filed a written complaint at Burichang Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Azizul Haque said the police have collected the bank’s CCTV footage and are attempting to identify and arrest the gang.

Sonali Bank manager Jahur Ahmed stated that the CCTV footage shows the 4–5 fraudsters cleverly taking the money from the woman and fleeing. He urged everyone to remain vigilant, as similar incidents have recently occurred at the bank.
