Arrest Warrants Issued for Five Accused, Including Former IGP Javed, in Joydebpur Seven-Murder Case

Arrest warrants have been issued against five accused, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwari, in connection with the 2016 killing of seven people in Joydebpur, Gazipur.

The warrants were issued on Monday by a three-member Tribunal-1 led by Judge Md. Golam Mortuza Majumdar. The other two members of the tribunal are Judge Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

During the hearing, the prosecution stated that in 2016, seven madrasa students were initially abducted. They were later locked inside a house in Joydebpur, Gazipur, from the outside. Under the pretext of being militants, the seven were killed.

The tribunal has scheduled October 15 to submit the investigation report on the case.
