Arifin Shuvo’s First International Web Series ‘Jazz City’ to Release on Sony LIV

Popular Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvo has acted in an international web series for the first time. His series “Jazz City” is set to premiere on March 19 on the Indian OTT platform Sony LIV.

Production sources said the political thriller series will be released in Hindi, English, and Bengali. This is the first Bengali-language series added to the platform. The series is directed by Bollywood screenwriter and director Soumik Sen.

Arifin Shuvo plays the character Jimmy Roy, around whom the main story revolves. Promotional videos have highlighted his various looks, capturing audience interest. He appears in elegant attire as well as in dance sequences, reflecting the essence of the 1970s era.

For his role, Shuvo delivers dialogues in four languages—Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, and English. In a statement, he said that music was used as a crucial storytelling tool in the series. Along with dialogues, background score and silence are used to deeply convey the emotional narrative.

The series is hinted to be set against the backdrop of Bangladesh’s Liberation War and the socio-political realities of the 1970s. It portrays the changes, conflicts, and struggles of people during that era.

Shuvo stars opposite Sauraseni Mitra. The cast also includes Shantanu Ghatak, Aniruddha Gupta, Sayandeep Sen, Shreya Bhattacharya, Shataf Figar, Alexandra Taylor, and Amit Saha among others.

Participation in this international production marks a significant milestone in Arifin Shuvo’s career. Audience reception after the release will determine its success.
