Application Filed for Attempted Murder Case Against 264 People, Including Four Former MPs in Feni

In Feni, an application has been filed in court seeking to lodge an attempted murder case against 264 individuals, including four former Members of Parliament. The application was submitted by local businessman Md. Jamal Uddin Gazi.

On Sunday (17 August), Jamal Uddin Gazi submitted the application before Senior Judicial Magistrate Aparajita Das. The court has instructed the Additional Superintendent of Police of Feni Sadar Circle to conduct an investigation and submit a detailed report.

According to the application, former Feni-2 MP and District Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari has been named as the principal accused. The case also lists three other former MPs—Lieutenant General (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury, Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim, and Shirin Akhtar—along with various political and affiliated organizational leaders as co-accused.

The complainant alleges that on 4 August 2022, during an anti-discrimination student and public sit-in in Mohipal, the accused fired guns at him. He sustained nine gunshot injuries on his left leg below the knee, ankle, and both arms and elbows. Subsequently, the accused reportedly beat him with sticks, iron rods, and rifle butts, leaving him severely injured. Local people rescued him in a bloodied condition and admitted him to a hospital.

The complainant explained that the delay in filing the case was due to ongoing treatment and delays in collecting the identities of the accused. After submitting a written complaint to Feni Model Police Station on 26 June, he approached the court due to insufficient action by the police.

Officer-in-Charge of Feni Model Police Station, Mohammad Samsuzzaman, stated that the police have already accepted 22 cases regarding the Mohipal incident and claimed that the complainant’s allegations were not accurate.

The court has directed the police to submit an investigation report alongside the application, based on which necessary legal action will be taken in the coming days.
