Technology investment firm Andreessen Horowitz is increasingly ramping up its lobbying efforts to expand its influence in Washington. In the current year alone, the firm has spent $1.14 million on federal lobbying, slightly surpassing the expenditure of its industry association, the National Venture Capital Association.

According to published lobbying data, Andreessen Horowitz spent $800,000 in 2024 and $950,000 in 2023. This level of spending stands out compared to other major venture capital firms. For instance, Sequoia Capital spent $120,000 and General Catalyst spent $500,000 on lobbying.

Andreessen Horowitz’s lobbying efforts cover a wide range of issues, from digital assets, stablecoins, and artificial intelligence to national defense policy. In Q3 of 2023, the firm began lobbying on matters related to the National Defense Authorization Act for the first time and continued these efforts in the following quarter.

The firm’s in-house policy team works with officials from both parties, helping Andreessen Horowitz influence not only technology and crypto legislation but also the defense sector and other regulated industries. Recently, former Deputy National Security Advisor Ann Nueberger joined the firm as a senior advisor on “American Dynamism, AI, and Cybersecurity.”

Additionally, Andreessen Horowitz is expanding its political influence through its political action committee. Recent reports indicate that the firm is supporting the pro-AI PAC network, “Leading the Future.”

This aggressive lobbying strategy is positioning Andreessen Horowitz as a growing influential player in Washington across technology, defense, and other key sectors.
