India has organized a four-day “AI Impact Summit” to attract further investment in the artificial intelligence sector. Executives from leading global AI labs and technology companies are participating. Organizers expect around 250,000 visitors over the four days.

Top officials from OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, and Cloudflare are in attendance. Heads of state and policymakers from various countries are also participating.

Special guests include Sundar Pichai, Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Mukesh Ambani, and Demis Hassabis. On Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are scheduled to deliver a joint address.

At the outset of the summit, the Indian government announced an allocation of $1.1 billion for a state-backed venture capital fund. The fund will invest in AI and advanced manufacturing startups in the country.

Sam Altman stated that after the United States, India has the highest number of weekly active users, with more than 10 million people regularly using ChatGPT. He also noted that India has the highest number of student users.

Blackstone has taken a majority stake in Indian AI startup Neysa as part of a $600 million equity funding round. The company also plans to raise another $600 million in debt and aims to deploy more than 20,000 GPUs.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru-based data center power solutions manufacturer C2i has raised $15 million in a Series A round, with Peak XV among the investors.

Vineet Nayyar commented that Indian IT companies will focus more on profitability rather than job creation in the future. Similarly, Vinod Khosla said that due to AI, IT services and BPO sectors could nearly disappear within the next five years. He suggested that Indian youth should focus on selling AI-based products and services in global markets.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is partnering with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to build rack-scale AI infrastructure based on the “Helios” platform.

Meanwhile, Anthropic announced the launch of its first Indian office in Bengaluru. The company said that after the United States, India is the second-largest market for its AI assistant “Claude.”

The four-day summit has generated expectations of strengthening India’s position in the global AI industry.
