In the past seven days, joint forces operations in various districts of the country, including Dhaka, have led to the arrest of 56 individuals. During the operations, authorities seized illegal firearms, hand grenades, ammunition, narcotics, and various other items. This information was released on Thursday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to an ISPR press release, the Bangladesh Army is working professionally to maintain law and order in the country. Following this continuity, from August 14 to 21, joint operations were conducted in the capital and other districts involving infantry divisions, independent brigades, and other law enforcement agencies.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 56 people, including terrorists, illegal arms carriers, robbers, juvenile gang members, extortionists, snatchers, criminals, gamblers, drug dealers, and drug addicts. Authorities recovered 16 illegal firearms, 6 hand grenades, 103 rounds of ammunition, locally-made weapons, various narcotics, contraband including white stones from Sylhet, mobile phones, motorcycles, and cash.
The ISPR stated that the arrested individuals were handed over to the relevant police stations for legal proceedings after interrogation. The Army is also regularly conducting patrols and security activities to ensure public safety. They are actively involved in controlling labor unrest in industrial areas as well.
The ISPR has urged the general public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest military camp. Such operations will continue in the future to maintain law and order.
