2 Dead, At Least 6 Injured in Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Procession Stampede in Chattogram

Two people were killed and at least six others injured after being trampled in a procession held to celebrate Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi in Muradpur area of the city. The incident occurred on Saturday (September 8) around 12:00 PM.

The deceased have been identified as Ayyub Ali (60) from Patiya Upazila and Saiful Islam (13) from Kalamia Bazar area. The injured were taken to Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead.

Sohel Rana, Assistant In-Charge of the CMCH Hospital police post, said that one of the injured has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Aminur Rahman, a member of the Anjuman-e-Rahmania Trust medical team, stated that the stampede occurred when some people fell in the crowd due to heat-related illness, causing others to trample over them. Eight injured were taken to the hospital, two of whom succumbed to their injuries.
