In Sherpur, Bogura, two friends were killed and one seriously injured in a motorcycle accident caused by reckless driving. The incident occurred on Sunday (November 23) at Phulbari Bazar in Garidah Union, Sherpur Upazila.

Inspector (Investigation) Zainul Abedin of Sherpur Police reported that the deceased were Mehedi Hasan (20), son of Hafizar Rahman of Rameshwarpur village, and Shahabul Hasan (20), son of the late Bablu Bepari from Gosai Para, Sherpur town. The injured, Utsab Biswas (20), is the son of Ujjal Biswas from Gosai Para.

Eyewitnesses said Shahabul was riding the motorcycle around 8:30 PM with friends Mehedi Hasan and Utsab Biswas. While heading toward Rameshwarpur, they lost control due to high speed near Phulbari Bazar. The motorcycle collided with a shop shutter and went inside.

Locals took the seriously injured to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Lal Mia, in charge of the hospital’s Silimpur medical police post, said that Shahabul and Mehedi Hasan died while undergoing treatment around 9:30 PM. The injured Utsab received initial treatment and returned home.

Utsab said they were taking their friend Mehedi home. The main cause of the accident was reckless speed. All three had recently completed higher secondary education.

SI Amirul Shikdar of Sherpur Police Station said the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after legal procedures. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act. Locals mentioned that a few hours before the accident, Shahabul posted a status on Facebook that went viral on social media. While some interpreted it as a premonition of his death, the family said it was just normal humor.
