Tensions have once again escalated over the Cuba issue following statements from the current and former political leadership of the United States. According to international media reports, former President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have hinted at possible military action against Cuba.

According to the report, Marco Rubio told reporters on Thursday that Cuba has long been a national security concern for the United States due to its close relations with Russia and China. On the other hand, Donald Trump claimed that if he were in power, he could take strict action against Cuba and that he is “prepared” to do so.

It is reported that pressure on Cuba has increased further from the US administration, including new sanctions, restrictions on fuel supply, and increased military presence in the Caribbean region. It was also mentioned that several US Navy warships and an aircraft carrier have recently been deployed in the region.

Meanwhile, tensions have further escalated following a lawsuit filed in the United States against former Cuban President Raúl Castro. At the same time, the arrest of a person linked to a major commercial organization connected to Cuba’s economic and military structure has also increased tensions.

US Secretary of State Rubio claimed that Cuba’s current political and economic system is “failed” and that while discussions for change exist, they are not a priority. He further said that Cuba has long tried to delay by resisting US pressure, but this time the situation will be different.

On the other hand, Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has described Rubio’s remarks as “false and provocative.” It has accused such statements of increasing the risk of military conflict and creating the possibility of bloodshed between the peoples of the two countries.

China and Russia have expressed support for Cuba and urged the United States to reduce tensions. The Russian government stated that any form of violent action against former or current state leaders is unacceptable.

According to analysts, the recent US stance on Cuba could further increase geopolitical tensions in Latin America, potentially leading to a major diplomatic crisis in the future.
