Young singer Tasrif Khan, who two years ago live-streamed aid delivery for flood victims in Sylhet, returned to the region, facing a new and distressing experience. He wrote on Facebook: “What happens if you know the people?” highlighting Sylhet’s road and public safety issues.
Tasrif described the Dhaka-Sylhet highway as “a major curse,” witnessing three severe accidents in two days. He criticized the government for ignoring road safety, noting that compensation is often financial, and the blame is shifted to poor drivers.
His social media posts sparked wide reactions, with many agreeing that Sylhet’s transport system is unsafe for tourists and locals. Tasrif emphasized that responsibility also lies with the public, not just authorities.
Tasrif’s band ‘Kureghar,’ active since 2016, is known for songs like “Madhyobitto,” “Moynare,” “Sat Rajar Dhan,” and “Bachelor.” His visit drew attention to Sylhet’s infrastructure and road safety concerns.
