Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has collected nomination papers to contest in Dhaka-9 in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
She officially collected the papers from NCP’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Monday night (10 November).
Dhaka-9 constituency comprises Sabujbagh, Khilgaon, Mugda, and Manda police station areas. As BNP has not yet announced a candidate, NCP’s move is seen as significant in the political arena.
Earlier, on Thursday, NCP Coordinator and Chief of the Central Election Committee Nasiruddin Patwary inaugurated the nomination paper sales at the party office.
According to party sources, each nomination paper costs 10,000 BDT. However, for war veterans of July and low-income candidates, the price has been reduced to 2,000 BDT.
The sale of nomination papers will continue until Thursday (13 November), after which the party will conduct interviews and publish a preliminary list of candidates.
Party leaders said that Tasnim Zara has long been associated with grassroots politics in Dhaka and represents youth leadership. They expressed hope that her candidature would send a positive message for NCP.
