Police recovered the body of a housewife, Rahima Begum, from a multi-story building in Nawab Ali Market, Konabari area, Gazipur. Her husband, Imran Hossain, was found in a bloodied state from the same residence and admitted to the hospital. The body was recovered on Saturday (15 November) morning.
Police stated that the injured Imran is the son of Suruj Ali from Amtala village, Haluaghat Upazila, Mymensingh. This was the couple’s second marriage. Imran worked locally as a butcher, and Rahima was a housewife.
SI Papon Hossain of Konabari Police Station said that police recovered the body after receiving information about the incident. The couple’s daughter, Sharmin, in a preliminary statement, said that her father first killed her mother and then attempted to harm himself. Further questioning of the daughter is ongoing.
He added that as the case is highly sensitive, all information is being thoroughly scrutinized. The exact motive is not yet known, and details will be revealed after the ongoing investigation.
