On Thursday morning (October 30), a special team from Chandina Police Station conducted a raid in the Rampal area of Bagerhat and rescued the boy unharmed. Later that night, both Hanif and the child were brought back to Chandina Police Station.
The rescued child, Mohammad Ali, is the son of Ruhul Amin and Nahida Akter of Pachdhara village, under Gollai Union of Chandina upazila. He is a first-grade student at Maharang Jafar Ali Munshi Markazul Ulum Al-Islamia Madrasa in Chandina municipality.
The arrested Hanif (48) is the son of Abdul Majid of Ballavpur village in Comilla Sadar upazila and is the paternal uncle of the abducted child.
According to local sources, Hanif had been having ongoing family disputes with his wife Fatema Akter. Recently, Fatema left for her father’s house after an argument. Enraged, Hanif allegedly kidnapped his nephew Mohammad Ali from the madrasa on Wednesday morning (October 29) as an act of revenge.
After the boy went missing, his family and madrasa authorities began searching for him. CCTV footage from the madrasa later revealed Hanif leaving the premises with the child. Following this discovery, the boy’s mother, Nahida Akter, filed a case with the police.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandina Police Station, Jabedul Islam, said, “After receiving the complaint, we used digital technology to track Hanif’s location. With the assistance of Rampal Police in Bagerhat, we arrested him and rescued the child. The boy is safe and healthy.”
He further added that Hanif will be produced before court on Friday, and investigations are ongoing to determine if anyone else was involved in the abduction.
The rescue operation has brought relief to the local community, and the child’s family expressed deep gratitude to the police administration for their swift action.
