Severe Road Accident in Kalikini, Madaripur

In Bhurghata Kundubari area of Kalikini Upazila, Madaripur, a passenger bus collided with a tree while trying to avoid an auto van, killing one and injuring at least ten others. The accident occurred on Thursday, November 13, around 10:30 PM on the Dhaka-Barishal highway.

Locals reported that a fast-moving Eagle Transport bus traveling from Dhaka to Barishal suddenly encountered an auto van on the road. While trying to avoid it, the driver lost control, and the bus struck a large tree by the roadside. The front section of the bus was badly damaged, and several passengers were trapped inside.

The bus helper was killed on the spot, though his identity has not yet been confirmed. Some of the injured are in critical condition. Fire Service and police from Kalikini quickly reached the scene to conduct rescue operations. Trapped passengers and the supervisor were rescued and taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal and Kalikini Upazila Health Complex.

The accident temporarily blocked traffic on the Dhaka-Barishal highway for about an hour. Highway police cleared the road, restoring normal traffic flow. According to Khokon Jamadar of Kalikini Fire Service, timely rescue operations prevented further casualties. The identity of the deceased is still being verified.
