Devastating Fire in Rangunia, Chattogram Early Morning

In Ward No. 5 of Rangunia Municipality in Chattogram, a fire broke out early Friday morning around 4:30 AM on Ghatcheck Road due to an electrical short circuit, engulfing several residential houses and business establishments within moments.

According to the Fire Service, the fire initially started in a tin-shed house but quickly spread to nearby houses and shops. A unit from Rangunia Fire Station arrived promptly and managed to control the fire after about an hour and a half.

Three residential houses owned by Md. Yusuf Mia were completely destroyed in the fire. Additionally, a furniture shop, an office room, and a warehouse suffered extensive damage. According to the initial assessment by the Fire Service, the fire caused losses of at least BDT 500,000. However, timely action saved property worth approximately BDT 1,000,000.

Station Officer Md. Josim Uddin of Rangunia Fire Station led the firefighting operation and stated that timely reporting helped prevent a larger disaster. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire originated from an electrical fault. Locals reported that the early morning fire spread rapidly, causing panic, but the prompt response of the fire service brought the situation under control.
