A Rohingya youth, Delwar Hossain, was shot dead by criminals around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, November 16, at the Kutupalong Registered Camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
Police and local sources reported that 8 to 10 armed members, led by RSO commander Mohammad Shafiq, attacked Delwar Hossain, a member of the Munna group. He was shot twice in his right thigh. Local Rohingyas rescued him and admitted him to the nearby GK Hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex and later to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he died en route to the hospital.
OC of Ukhiya Police Station, Ziaul Haque, stated that Delwar Hossain’s residence was in Block C of the camp, and his father is Bashir Ahmad. Hossain was an active member of the Munna group. Several suspects, including Shafiq, Nur Mohammad, and Aziz, have been identified.
During the incident, the Kutupalong Police Camp patrol team arrived, but the attackers fled, and no arrests have been made yet. Police are conducting a thorough investigation.
