Public Shooting in Bheramara, Kushtia: One Farmer Killed, Another Injured

In Raitta Notunpara, Bahadurpur Union, Bheramara Upazila, miscreants shot and killed a 52-year-old farmer, Refazul Islam, around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Another person, 46-year-old Lalon Mondal, was injured in the same incident.

The injured Lalon Mondal was transferred from Bheramara Hospital to Kushtia General Hospital (250 beds) in serious condition.

Local sources reported that the deceased Refazul Islam was the son of the late Jamat Mondal of Raitta Notunpara, Bahadurpur Union. The injured Lalon Mondal is the son of Kalu Majhi from the same area.

According to Bheramara police and locals, the victims were shopping at a local store when several armed men suddenly opened fire. Refazul Islam died at the scene, while Lalon Mondal was shot and injured.

OC Abdul Rauf Talukdar of Bheramara police station stated, “Refazul Islam was shot and killed in the Raitta ghat area. The injured Lalon Mondal was quickly rescued and sent to Kushtia General Hospital. Operations are ongoing to identify those involved in the attack.”

Panic has spread among locals, and police have increased security in and around the area.
