PNN News Desk | Dhaka:
Ahead of the Awami League’s banned program today, police have heightened security in Gazipur and surrounding areas. Since Thursday morning (13 November), police officers have been stationed at key intersections and highways in the city.

Mobile patrol teams are maintaining continuous surveillance in busy areas, including Konabari, Chandana Chourasta, Bhogra Bypass, and Tongi. Multiple checkpoints have been set up to search suspicious individuals and vehicles.

A Gazipur Metropolitan Police officer said, “We are on high alert to ensure the safety of the public. Any attempt to create unrest or carry out sabotage will be dealt with strictly.”

In addition to the police, intelligence personnel are also working on the ground. Plainclothes officers have been deployed for rapid response.

Traffic was relatively light on major roads in the morning, but shops, garment factories, banks, and financial institutions remained open as usual. Police are keeping a close watch on bus and truck stands and other crowded areas. Rapid Response Teams have been stationed in every police station to take immediate action if needed.

While the situation is under control, law enforcement agencies have stated that heightened security measures will continue until public safety is fully ensured.
