Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), stated that the July Charter order should be given to Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus. He further mentioned that there will be no ‘note of dissent’ in the July National Charter.

Nahid Islam made these remarks on Friday afternoon at an event held in the Shamsur Rahman Conference Hall of Bangla Academy. The event marked the launch of the University Teachers’ Forum (UTF), during which the central convener committee of UTF was also announced.

He said, “What has been agreed upon will be decided by the people. If the people approve, it will be implemented. I hope we can move quickly toward national elections through the legal framework of the July Charter.”

He added that all stakeholders of the July people’s movement should be part of the next parliament, which will also function as a constitutional reform council. Nahid Islam stated, “For a new constitution, the parliament must include teachers, youth, women, religious scholars, minorities, and professionals from various sectors. NCP will try to ensure this participation.”

Professor Md. Sirajul Islam of Dhaka University has been elected as the convener of UTF, and Professor Shamim Hamidi of Dhaka International University has been appointed as member secretary. Teachers from various universities spoke at the event, and UTF’s declaration was read.

Nahid Islam expressed hope that the July Charter will be implemented quickly, allowing the country’s people’s movement to advance.
