Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, has called on Islamic scholars (Ulama) to unite in preserving Islamic values amid the country’s current situation. He said, “All scholars must stand together on a single platform to counter those who claim to be Muslims but act against Islam.”
He made this statement as the chief guest at the National Ulama Conference–2025, held Thursday at the Engineers’ Institution auditorium in Ramna. This was the first event organized by the recently formed National Ulama Council Bangladesh.
The conference was presided over by Maulana Mahfuzul Haq, president of the National Ulama Council and secretary general of Befakul Madarisil Arabia. He stated that many scholars may participate in the upcoming national parliamentary elections but warned, “Rivalry among the Ulama is unacceptable. It will weaken the Islamic political strength.”
Maulana Mamunul Haq, Amir of Bangladesh Khalafat Majlis and special guest at the event, said, “In Islamic politics, one cannot always confront the opposition directly. Action must be taken at the right time. The current time is favorable for Islamic forces, and failing to use this opportunity may lead to significant future losses.”
Maulana Abdul Hamid, principal of Jamia Islamia Halimia Madrasa in Munshiganj and Pir of Madhupur, said, “Fighting falsehood is our religious duty. We will stand together even if it costs our lives; we will not be divided. The anti-Qadiani movement of 16 November is not over; it has just begun.” He also mentioned that the government has been given time, but “there will be no more opportunities next time.”
Maulana Sajidur Rahman, secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, stated, “We will remain united. Those who want to work for Islam will never be obstructed. Internal divisions must not be allowed.”
Other speakers at the conference included Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmad, secretary general of Bangladesh Khalafat Majlis; Maulana Khaled Saifullah Ayubi, secretary general of National Ulama Council; Maulana Nurul Islam Olipuri; Maulana Salahuddin Nanupuri; Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad; and other scholars.
