Over the past few months, the National Consensus Commission has worked on recommendations for reforms in various sectors to ensure good governance, democracy, and social justice, and to prevent the recurrence of authoritarian rule. For this purpose, six sub-commissions were formed to provide recommendations on reforms in the constitution, electoral system, judiciary, public administration, police, and anti-corruption measures.
The National Consensus Commission created the July National Charter after discussions with 30 parties and alliances. It included 84 proposals, of which 25 parties and alliances have already signed and committed to implementing the reforms.
During the handover, the commission members stated that establishing consensus for reform is now extremely urgent to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions and ensure good governance.
