JAKSU Election Schedule to Be Announced Tomorrow; Code of Conduct to Be Finalized

The schedule for the Jagannath University Central Student Union (JAKSU) elections will be officially announced tomorrow, Wednesday (5 November). On the same day, the final code of conduct for the elections will also be released, confirmed JAKSU Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mostofa Hasan.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Mostofa Hasan told The Daily Campus:
"The schedule will be officially announced tomorrow. Only then will the exact dates of the elections be known. We will also release the finalized election code of conduct. At this point, nothing more can be said. All details will be provided in the official briefing."

He also added that the demands and suggestions of various student organizations at the university have been heard, but it is not appropriate to comment further at this time.

Earlier, on the night of 30 October, a draft code of conduct was published. It included mandatory drug tests for candidates. On Sunday, discussions were held with various student organizations and journalists regarding the code of conduct and the election date.

It is noteworthy that on 29 October, the university administration appointed Professor Dr. Mostofa Hasan as Chief Election Commissioner and formed a five-member election commission. The assistant election commissioners are:

  • Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam (Law Department)

  • Professor Dr. Kaniz Fatema Kakli (Physics)

  • Professor Dr. Md. Zulfikar Mahmud (Computer Science and Engineering)

  • Associate Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman (History and Culture of Islam)

This will be the first time in the university’s history that students will have a Central Student Union election.
